Do you have problems dealing with your computer?
It's an old story. You get a computer expecting all kinds of neat stuff, and what's the result? Confusion, frustration, and finally resignation. This need not happen.
You might ask some young friend or relative over to assist, but sometimes that's even more confusing than teaching yourself! Consider employing an expert with real teaching abilities instead. You won't be trying to follow lots of techno-chatter, and before you know it you'll be mastering basics like surfing, email and printing. All it takes is a desire to learn along with a comfortable learning environment and a mature, patient instructor. That's where I come in.
I'm John Gallant, I live right here in Kingman, and it's my sole aim to help you achieve success in taming your computer. What are my qualifications? A decade of intensive experience developing websites and assisting clients with complex coding problems. See Positioniseverything.net (my coding help site) to check out the details of what I do in this area.
What I Offer
Primarily I teach beginning computing and all that goes along with it, but if you're a bit more advanced and want to learn fancier tricks, perhaps in the field of photo editing, that too is no problem. I've extensive experience in graphics work on a number of different editors such as Fireworks, Photoshop, and Gimp. For text editing work, I can introduce you to the ways of Microsoft Word, Open Office, and text editors in general.
For budding website builders I can assist in all those messy details that come with the territory like FTP, templating systems, usability, accessibility, and more arcane topics like CSS, Javascript and PHP. I don't claim to know everything (no one does), but when I don't, I won't pretend I do, and that's a promise.
PC Tune-ups
Computers are a lot like cars; they need proper maintenance to function well. I offer a regular tune-up service for your PC to handle things like virus filters, spyware and adware infestations, defragmenting of the hard drive, and anything else that needs doing. Flexible terms can be arranged to suit your needs.
Fees
The standard fee rate is $25 per hour, and $15 per hour for seniors. Before any training begins we will thoroughly discuss your needs and desires in a no-pressure situation. Only then will fees and schedules be discussed (two hour minimum for hiring). There's an extra $10 fee for each lesson more than 10 miles outside the Kingman city limits, out to a 30 mile radius.
