Trailshot: This hike takes you about a mile up the gently rising streambed of a very rugged and rocky canyon. There's lots of very steep but rewarding climbing along side the route, and weird sandstone formations to clamber on at the far end. There are several natural arches to be checked out, and a side canyon full of boulders, rising steeply between high sheer cliffs, to round out your day. Enjoy!
Union Pass is the highpoint on Route 68 between Bullhead City/Laughlin, and the junction with Highway 93 near Kingman. From Bullhead it's a steep, ten mile drive up to the pass, then a half-mile beyond to the parking on the right (south side).
You can park next to the highway, or go down thru the cattle gate (keep it closed please) to several old abandoned dwellings and a gas station along an old alignment of route 68.
Cinch up yer boots 'n git going!
To start, find where the stream meets the old pavement just past the old gas station. Then right, up the creek and under the highway thru a stand-up water tunnel. It's a bit bushy just before the tunnel, but beyond it's clear passage nearly the whole way up. There's no trail to speak of and traction is sketchy, so step lively.
I could tell you where all the good stuff is, but why spoil it? Better you should find it yerself.
